Areopagitica, a relatively new addition to Clintonville, is a great used bookshop--roomy, well lit and comfortable, with the requisite congenial proprietors and laid-back dog. There are lots and lots of racks in its three rooms, with what looks like a respectable representation of most conceivable subjects... though I can't say for sure, since in three visits I've only managed to get through one room's worth of topics... The presentation of the shop was a bit daunting to me at first--many of the older books were in such good shape that I was sure that the prices were going to be way out of my range, but many of the titles are downright competitive--I was quite surprised, and quite pleasantly so. They are growing their community programming to include such amenities as live music, and I am among many who hope that this wonderful shop will become as much a north Columbus institution as neighboring Karen Wycliffe's place. - Khrysso Heart , posted 10/05/06 |
